There is a theme that has come up twice in my animal communications this week – something so touching and at the same time so important, that I want to share it with you today.
Our animals long to hear from us
what we love about them.
What we appreciate in them.
What we admire about them.
Which small gestures or behaviors make us smile.
And yes, even what we sometimes look up to in them.
It sounds so simple – and yet in everyday life, we say it far too rarely.
Especially animals who are seen as “difficult” or “challenging,” or who show certain behaviors we wish were different, often carry a deep sense of insecurity within themselves.
They feel what we wish for.
They feel where we hope for change.
And some of them begin to doubt themselves or to feel as if they are not enough.
Yet there is so much we love about them.
And they need these words.
More than we often realize.
A touching communication from today
Today I was connected with a small group of cats – one tomcat and two females.
There were tensions, misunderstandings, and this quiet feeling of not fully belonging.
So I asked them a question I often use in moments like this:
“What do you appreciate about the other?”
The effect was incredible.
The cats became very still, very open.
They took in so deeply what the tomcat finds beautiful in them – and some of them grew visibly proud, almost expanding in themselves.
And the tomcat was deeply moved when he heard what the two appreciate in him, what they admire, and even what they would like to learn from him.
This honest appreciation shifted so much in their little system – far more than any correction or attempt to “fix” something ever could.
It created connection.
Trust.
Softness.
Ease.
And the deep feeling of being seen.
Tell your animal what you love about them
Maybe you want to take a moment today and tell your animal:
- What you admire in them
- What makes you smile every single day
- Which of their qualities touch your heart
- Why your life is so much richer because they are in it
- Which small behaviors you cherish
- And yes: what you sometimes look up to in them as a role model
Say it out loud.
Or whisper it softly.
Or send it to them in your thoughts – that works too.
Animals drink these words like water.
They bloom from them.
And they feel so deeply connected to us through this.
Sometimes an entire family dynamic shifts – simply because an animal finally gets to hear:
“I see you. I love you. And you are doing so much right.
From heart to heart
Tanja
