A few days ago, I had the chance to speak with a horse again – and this conversation truly touched me.
It reminded me how many horses are still not really seen, heard, or truly felt in their lives.
This particular horse – now in loving hands – had a past that weighed heavily on my heart.
As a competition horse, she was deemed “not good enough,” and ended up being passed around, loaned out again and again so people could “try things out” with her.
It was never about her. Always about performance, obedience, function.
Love? Affection? Trust?
Nowhere to be found.
Over time, she lost her connection to herself. Parts of her soul withdrew.
Too much pressure, too little connection.
Today, she’s quickly overwhelmed. She’s afraid to open her heart again – afraid of being disappointed once more.
But – and here’s the beautiful part – she now has people by her side who are meeting her exactly where she is.
People who are showing her that relationships can be different.
Gently, lovingly, step by step.
Helping her rediscover joy, life, and her own body.
And you know what?
I used to have very little contact with horses myself.
In fact, they used to scare me a bit.
Today, I get to speak with them regularly. I get to touch their souls. Hear their stories.
I’ve come to know how deep, sensitive, and wise they truly are.
But I also witness their pain.
How much they’re expected to function. How harsh training can be. How often their needs go unheard.
That’s why it’s such a gift to now meet more and more horses and horse people who are choosing a new way.
People who want to truly see, feel, and understand their animals.
Who seek real partnership – on equal ground.
And I get to be a part of that.
Thank you, dear horses – and dear humans – for your trust. 🧡
With love for you and your animal,
Tanja
