Yesterday, we had the first Zoom call of my animal communication course, and I am overwhelmed by the touching impressions that the participants received from their animals. Our animals showed them how they perceive the world in a very special way, and today, I want to share these experiences with you. They are not only fascinating but also a wonderful invitation to activate our own senses once again.
Here are some of the amazing sensory impressions the participants received:
- What purring feels like in the body: One participant experienced what it feels like when her animal purrs – the deep, soothing vibrations that flow through the entire body.
- The sensation of having whiskers: Another participant felt what it would be like to have whiskers, using them to sense and perceive the surroundings.
- The joy of a firm embrace: A dog that loves being tightly hugged allowed his owner to feel how comforting and pleasant that sensation is for him.
- The smell of roasted chicken: One participant could perceive the tempting scent of roasted chicken through her animal’s nose – so intense that her own mouth started watering!
- The scent of wet tree bark: Another dog shared the earthy, fresh smell of wet tree bark after a rain shower with his owner.
- The mouthfeel of jelly-like food: A particularly unique experience was the mouthfeel an animal had when eating jelly-like food – a texture that may seem insignificant to us but is a true sensory experience for our animals.
- The feeling of connection: A touching experience was the deep connection a dog allowed his owner to feel. He had only been with her for a few months, yet the emotional closeness he conveyed was overwhelming.
These sensations show us how intensely our animals experience the world – with every fiber of their bodies, with every breath, and with every sensory impression. And they remind us of how important it is to reactivate our own senses.
I invite you to pause this weekend and move through your day with open senses. Experience the world like our animals do – in its full sensuality:
- Sight: Take in the beauty of nature. The vibrant colors of autumn, a blooming flower with all its delicate petals, the details in the landscape around you.
- Smell: Take in the scents of nature. The smell of the earth after a rain shower, the fresh, earthy aroma of a forest walk.
- Taste: When you eat, focus on the different flavor nuances and the mouthfeel of each bite. Enjoy it mindfully.
- Hearing: Pay attention to the sounds around you. Perhaps it’s the chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves in the wind, or the gentle babbling of a stream.
- Touch: Feel how your body responds to different surfaces. What does the wind feel like on your skin? The texture of the ground beneath your feet?
By reawakening your senses, you can experience your surroundings in a new and deeper way. Just as our animals do – fully present in the moment, with mindfulness and joy.
Our animals are our teachers when it comes to living life in its full sensuality. I invite you to be inspired by their experiences and to reawaken your own senses.
Lots of love for you and your animals
