What bedtime ritual do you have with your pet?
I asked this question in my Facebook group last week and we came up with some lovely inspirations that I would like to share with you.
A blind cat wished for the weather forecast for the next day every evening so that she could prepare herself for whether she could go outside or not.
We then realised that many of our animals really like to know what to expect the next day. Is there something special they can look forward to? Something they can prepare for? Where will the walk take them? Is someone coming to visit? And also what will the weather be like, right?
We ourselves usually already have an idea of what the following day will be like and it’s nice for our loved ones if we can share this with them and give them more structure, anticipation and excitement. You can simply sit with them or be near them and talk about it out loud. Usually, images will form in your head straight away. But you don’t have to do this consciously.
Then came another wonderful idea that Maja and Ida loved straight away, the bedtime story: ‘Once upon a time… there was a little puppy or a lonely cat, …..’
And then you tell your pet its story. What you know about its past and how it came to you, what your first meeting was like, what your life together has been like, how much it is loved, and so on.
It’s really fascinating that even animals from animal welfare organisations, who often don’t like to talk about their past, really love this story.
Maja and Ida told me that this is actually very healing. This is because you dive into the past for just a short time and bring the associated energies into your consciousness. And then you connect with the love energy in which they are now, with the security, the protection, and as a result these old shadows dissolve and everything is simply cosy and beautiful.
This experience was also very touching for me. We will now consciously do this from time to time.
And of course, many of them get a treat before they go to sleep, along with a cuddle or kiss and a ‘I love you very much, sleep well’. They all love that so much! Our two girls, of course, especially love the night treats, which they demand even if we forget 😉.
Maybe you’d like to tell your pet about your next day together or tell him his personal bedtime story?
I’d love to hear what it was like for you and your pet. Or maybe you have a completely different ritual that you would like to share with me.
Lots of love for you and your animals
